Matt has been a faculty member at The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music since 1992. In addition to teaching classes and private lessons, Matt currently serves as Chair of the Guitar Department, as well as coordinator of the annual summer Weekend Guitar Workshop. (July 18-20, 2008).

Blues Combo offers the opportunity to perform various blues and blues/ rock styles in an ensemble setting. Chord progressions, rhythms, dynamics, improvisation, and repertoire will be discussed. Open to instruments from the blues genre.

Introduction to Fingerstyle Guitar 

Develop your fingerstyle technique! Learn basic right hand picking patterns as well as traditional and modern solo pieces.  Also learn the history of the style, watch videos by top performers and listen to groundbreaking works. Open to guitarists with a basic knowledge of chords, and tablature or notation.

Guitar Weekend Workshop
Guitarists of all styles and levels! Come enjoy an intensive weekend of exploring the instrument – expand your experience with different styles, while deepening your knowledge in familiar areas. You choose a major and minor course of study from four basic genres: fingerstyle, jazz, classical, and rock/blues. You’ll meet other guitarists, play in groups, attend jam sessions and choose from a variety of special topic workshops such as Improvisation, Slide Guitar and Sight Reading. Minimal guitar experience is required.
